Week #13: Batman: Arkham Origins

With Batman Trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch, I feel like it’s a good time to enjoy the black sheep of the series on the Steam Deck – Batman: Arkham Origins. It’s also a game that happens at Christmas. So, happy holiday to everyone.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Best for

  • People who want to complete full of the Arkham series

Even for a non-DC fan, you should like the brilliant gameplay of the Arkham series made by Rocksteady. Well, Batman: Arkham Origins is a black sheep that isn’t made by the father of the series, but it borrows many good things and makes very creative and thrilling boss fights. So if you’re buying the other Batman: Arkham games, make sure to complete the collection with Batman: Arkham Origins. It is usually cheaper to buy the full bundle on Steam.

  • People who need a casual and quick Christmas game

This Christmas will be happy gaming hours for you if you play Batman: Arkham Origins. Unless you want to find all collectibles in the game, howlongtobeat shows that you can finish the game in around 12 hours. If you’re familiar with other games in the series, you can probably finish the game quicker.

It will burn one or two holidays for you, but it’s worth the time.

Worst for

  • People who hate the game for not being a Rocksteady game

And people who hate the game for that reason aren’t wrong, sadly. The game lacks the legendary voice acting made by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, and it seems like a pure carbon copy of the previous Arkham City. Big fans will think of the game as just another cash cow, and think the game isn’t worth the same money they spent on other Batman: Arkham.

However, at the 75% discount mainly on Steam sales, I think Batman: Arkham Origins is worth for some hours of gameplay.

Recommended handhelds to play

With no one care to port the game to Nintendo Switch, you can only use handheld gaming PCs for playing this game on Steam. I recommend to use Steam Deck, which is still one of the best handheld PCs in my opinion.
