With the Garlic OS being the default system for the Anbernic RG35XX, it seems we need a comprehensive RG35XX Garlic guide to start. While the stock OS of RG35XX is fine to start with, many people are looking for the Garlic OS, because it can customize theme and app to fit personal needs, as well as overclocking its CPU for better performance.
Hope that the official boot from Anbernic is the motivation for Black-Seraph to continue his wonderful work. Even as a lazy handheld man who only enjoy playing games, I love all efforts to make my handheld gaming experience better.
RG35XX Garlic OS Guide
Before you read
|You need to install Garlic OS into your Anbernic RG35XX. I write a tutorial on how to install Garlic OS on RG35XX. Installing dual systems with one being Garlic OS also counts.|
Global Shortcuts in Garlic
With the Miyoo Mini Onion OS inspriration in mind, Black-Seraph made Garlic OS to be somehow a copy of the famous community-made system. Problem is, you may not know how shortcuts work in RG35XX. Here is the quick summary on the global shortcuts in Garlic:
Full version if you can’t see the picture above well enough:
|MENU (in-game)||Go to Garlic menu. Double tap to Recent menu||✓|
|MENU (Garlic)||Go to Recent menu|
|MENU + volume (Garlic)||Adjust brightness||✓|
|MENU + X||RetroArch quick menu access|
|MENU + UP||Take screenshot||✓|
|MENU + DOWN||Mute|
|MENU + START||Pause game|
|MENU + SELECT||Toggle FPS|
|MENU + L1||Slow motion|
|MENU + R1||Fast forward||✓|
|MENU + L2||Load state||✓|
|MENU + R2||Save state||✓|
|MENU + LEFT/RIGHT||Decrease/Increase state slot|
To be honest, I prefer the position for the RG35XX to the Miyoo Mini when using save/load state. In Miyoo Mini Plus, I need to swap L1/R1 with L2/R2.
Anbernic RG35XX Garlic apps
Unlike the Miyoo Mini with its feature-rich custom firmware, Garlic doesn’t offer many settings for its users. However, you can install many third party applications for the Anbernic RG35XX. I make a full list of the best Anbernic RG35XX apps so you can check which is suitable for your tastes.
That’s it, if you have any other questions, please find it in my RG35XX tutorial.
